Meramec Welcomes New CMO Jeff Shelton: Ensuring Quality Care Through Leadership and Strategy

Meramec Ambulance District is excited to announce Jeff Shelton as our new Chief Medical Officer!

Jeff is no stranger to Meramec—as he has been a full-time member of our district for many years, and we are thrilled to now welcome him into this vital leadership role.

He brings a deep well of EMS, clinical, and educational experience, having previously worked at VALLE Ambulance District, St. Louis Children’s Hospital (in their Emergency Department, as a Clinical Educator, and on their Transport Team), St. Louis Fire Department, the Saint Louis Zoo, Six Flags St. Louis, and CPR St. Louis.

Jeff’s educational achievements include:

-An Associate Degree in Paramedic Technology from STLCC

-A Bachelor of Science in Health Science – Paramedic from MSSU

-A Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from SIUC

-Plus numerous instructor certifications across emergency care disciplines

Jeff shared that he is “excited to be working alongside the staff at Meramec and especially seeing the direction the district is heading with both staff development and patient care.”

He brings invaluable experience from his time at different careers, and this blend of frontline care, advanced clinical training, and educational leadership will be a tremendous asset to our district and our community.
