FACT
1
IT'S TIME
Just like our homes and cars, our ambulances, stations and medical equipment require maintenance, updates and replacement. The costs of medical equipment and medical supplies continue to rise, nearly doubling in price since 2016. The life-saving equipment our paramedics currently rely on is at or nearing the end of its service capabilities and must be replaced.
FACT
2
IT'S RESPONSIBLE
Prop. A will fund critically-needed improvements to keep the community safe and continue to provide the top level of emergency medical services for residents. This plan addresses our most urgent needs with an estimated cost of $4.99 a month for the owner of a home appraised at $200,000. Prop. A is a long-term responsible financial plan to support the District’s commitment to community safety and well-being.
FACT
3
WELL-EQUIPPED
TO SAVE LIVES
Meramec Ambulance District is one of the largest ambulance districts in Franklin County serving more than 27,000 residents throughout 244 square miles. Our population continues to grow and we must be prepared to serve more residents in the years ahead. It is vital for each ambulance and station to be properly equipped with up-to-date life-saving medical equipment and supplies.
FACT
4
AGING AMBULANCES
Aging ambulances increase the possibility of a critical failure while driving to an emergency or transporting a patient. Prop. A would replace five of the oldest ambulances.
FACT
5
BETTER EMERGENCY SERVICES
Nearly 80% of emergency calls are from Pacific, Gray Summit, and Villa Ridge, often leading to multiple emergency calls coming in at the same time in these areas. By constructing a new ambulance station in Pacific, the District will be better positioned to improve response times in high call volume areas, getting our paramedics to more residents quicker and providing the life-saving services our community needs.
